Open Source

Here at Parkyeri, we develop using free and open source software. Also we help improving and localizing free software. We financially support free software activities and directly donate to open source projects we actively benefit from.

Main projects we use and support at Parkyeri are:

  • Parkyeri, as Turkey's first and only W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) member, holds web standards in high regard while developing Internet-based applications. W3C membership has helped Parkyeri to take part setting the web standards, enhancing its former position as a committed follower. Parkyeri supports and promotes open standards. • Parkyeri uses Debian GNU/Linux operating systems on its own servers. Some products developed for our clients are hosted on Debian servers as well. Despite our own choice of Debian; for our customers, we develop platform-independent software, which can seamlessly run on Microsoft Windows, Solaris, BSD and other Linux distributions.
  • We develop our database applications on PostgreSQL and MySQL. With our accredited PostgreSQL developers, we provide support and consultancy services. The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), Turkcell and Türksat are among our references regarding our PostgreSQL services.
  • Two open source projects are developed by Parkyeri: PyPgSQL database management system and PyPgCluster clustering system are also subject to our consultancy services.
  • Code REview Tool CRET is a free software developed by our subsidiary Kartaca. At code.kartaca.com you can reach its development pages.
  • Creating solutions for our clients; we mostly use PHP, Python, Java languages and Emacs, Vim, Eclipse, Netbeans, Firebug development software.
  • We use major Linux distributions on our desktops and development environments. Subversion (SVN), GNU Enterprise and XMPP (Jabber) are among everyday applications helping our team-based working style.open-source

Sponsorship Activities

Parkyeri is a regular sponsor of both "Linux and Open Source Software Festival" organized by LKD and "Free and Open Software Days" hosted by İstanbul Bilgi University.

Since Parkyeri's foundation, we have a policy of donating the double amount of what our employees donated to any free software project. Under this policy; PHP, PostgreSQL and Blender projects have received significant amounts of donation.
